I can fall in love with songs in the span of a heartbeat. I can fall in love with characters and voices and words and books and cautious moments of sideways glances. I can fall in love with the sky and distant galaxies and even more distant stars. But I become silent, trembling, paralyzed when your hand finds its way into mine and I don’t know if I can fall in love with you. You are a human being, fleeting and imperfect. You can leave me. You can change me, influence me, affect me. But you can also love me back. And I think I fear that the most. The love I know has always been one-sided. I don’t know if I can fall in love you.
